When you submit an email for rewriting, it's sent to an AI model to generate the rewrite — and that's it. Ascend does not store your email content on its servers. It flows in, gets processed, and flows back out.
The AI processing is handled by Anthropic (see Section 5). Anthropic's API terms explicitly prohibit using API inputs to train their models, so your emails are not used for AI training.
We treat your email content like a phone call, not a filing cabinet.
Everything you teach Ascend about your communication style lives in your browser. It never leaves your device.

All of this is stored in your browser's localStorage — a private, device-local store that only your browser can access. We never transmit it to our servers.
You can delete all of it at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage for this site (Settings → Clear Site Data in most browsers).
When you start a free trial, we ask for your email address. We use it for two things only:
We will never sell your email address. We will never share it with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
You can ask us to delete your email from our records at any time — see Section 8 for how.
We use two external providers to run Ascend. Here's what each one does and doesn't see:
Anthropic (AI processing)
Your email content passes through Anthropic's API to generate rewrites. Anthropic's usage policy for API customers prohibits using inputs to train models. Your emails are not training data. You can review Anthropic's API usage policy at anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
Railway (infrastructure hosting)
Railway hosts the Ascend backend. They provide infrastructure — compute, networking, logging — but have no meaningful access to your email content, since we don't store it.
We don't use analytics platforms, ad networks, or any other third-party trackers.
We don't use cookies for tracking or advertising. Full stop.
Ascend may use minimal session cookies required to keep the app functional (e.g., authentication state), but nothing that tracks you across sites or feeds ad platforms.
No analytics pixels. No retargeting. No third-party scripts watching what you type.
Email content: Not stored, so there's nothing to retain or delete.
Personalization data: Stored only in your browser. It persists until you clear it. We have no copy.
Email addresses: Retained as long as your trial or account is active. You can request deletion at any time.
Server logs (standard infrastructure logs from Railway) are retained for a short period for operational purposes and then discarded. These logs don't contain your email content.
If you're in the EU, UK, or California, you have specific rights around your data. But honestly, these apply to everyone — we think they're reasonable regardless of where you live.

Note: your personalization data (Section 3) is entirely in your control already — we can't delete it because we don't have it.
Ascend is designed for working professionals. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13 years old.
If you believe a minor has submitted data through our service, contact us at contact@ascendexecutive.ai and we'll remove it promptly.
If we make meaningful changes to how we handle your data, we'll update this page and revise the "Last updated" date at the bottom. For significant changes, we'll also notify trial and account users by email.
We won't quietly loosen privacy protections. If anything changes, you'll know about it.
